StudiTicket

StudiTicket of VVS (Verkehrsverbund Stuttgart)

This best value ticket from VVS (only for students of universities in the territory of Studentenwerk Stuttgart) makes students mobile – go when you want, as often as you want – and use all VVS trains and buses! Some important things to know are listed below:

Where can I get the VVS StudiTicket and what do I need to show when I buy it?

You may purchase the StudiTicket at all VVS and SSB sales offices, at all DB ticket offices in Stuttgart and around and partly even from regional transportation companies. Take your student ID card with you because the sales offices won’t accept registration letters for this purpose.

How come that the VVS StudiTicket can be offered at such a favourable rate of only € 184,60 per semester currently?

The solidarity and mandatory Studentenwerk Stuttgart contribution includes a portion of currently € 39.65 which is directly forwarded by Studentenwerk Stuttgart to VVS (which is therefore not used for funding Studentenwerk Stuttgart services). This contribution of all students is used for basic financing of this extremely low-price StudiTicket which could not be offered otherwise. Payment of this contribution entitles to use the VVS print logo on the student ID card.

Can I use my student ID card as a ticket?

Yes, this is possible, yet limited to certain times: From Monday to Friday from 6 PM (all day on weekends and holidays) for all public VVS buses and trains in Stuttgart and the Stuttgart area (student ID card with VVS print or label with VVS print). If you would like to use the services of the Stuttgart Verkehrsverbund (VVS) outside these times you must purchase a StudiTicket.

What’s a Combi-StudiTicket?

Sometimes, students need to travel through zones of two (neighbouring) transportation associations. For these students, Studentenwerk Stuttgart and Tübingen-Hohenheim have successfully negotiated with the relevant transportation associations. The result: The transportation associations VVS (districts of Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg & Esslingen), naldo (districts of Tübingen, Reutlingen, Zollernalbkreis and Sigmaringen), VPE (Pforzheim-Enzkreis) and HNV (districts of Heilbronn, Hohenlohe-Kreis, relevant zones of Rhein-Neckar, Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis and Schwäbisch Hall districts) offer combination StudiTickets for the zones lying in territories of these other transportation associations, in addition to the StudiTicket purchased for the study location.

Currently, the cost per semester is as follows:

VVS = € 264.00, naldo = € 107.50, HNV = € 164.00 and VPE = €120.00.

If you have any questions in this regard, please contact your competent transportation association directly.
